Something for your reading list
Writing about Women's Health yesterday reminded me of a foodie blog I've been following for the last few weeks, How to shuck an oyster, written by one of the women I worked with on that magazine, Charlotte Wood. The award-winning author of three novels, The Children, The Submerged Cathedral and Pieces of a girl, and editor of an upcoming anthology of stories about siblings, Brothers & Sisters, Charlotte writes with intelligence and insight about "food, reading and writing" on her blog. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Huh! I blush, Ms Ylla; thankyou for the recommendation. And it was great - sort of - reading about that last WEIRD day at Women's Health. So surreal, wasn't it? Do you remember one of our colleagues spluttering and stuttering like an epileptic as the bigwigs walked in to deliver the bad news, because she'd had a dream the night before of that very entrance happening, in exactly the same way, so she knew what was about to transpire? Spooooky. Thanks so much for reading the howtoshuck blog - yours is a cracker too, and I shall be a frequent visitor. Mine is a little bereft right this second as am having a writing 'retreat' at a friend's coastal house trying to get back to my novel. First days though, sadly, are seeing me immersed in overdue tax returns. Ugh. But soon as I come up for air I shall be spruiking on the joy of the salmon pattie. Nice to be in touch.
