Must concur that while Blumenthal conjurs up a veritable smorgasboard of culinary fantasies and fairy tales, Adria has generated a mystique and exclusiveness built up over many years. His quote "the ideal customer doesn't come to El Bulli to eat but to have an experience",challenges most people who consider the reason to eat at the worlds best restaurant (well over the past 5 years anyway).

Here! Here! This is why I always end up going back to my old faithfuls: Buzo and Wine Library, Fix St James, Remy & Lees, La Casa etc Always warmly welcomed, always good service from ALL of the staff. Makes such a huge difference.
I recently went to a very well known restaurant and we were put off from the moment we walked in by the pompous Maitre'd. The food wasn't up to scratch but we probably would have ignored that if the service was good.
Good service hides a multitude of sins.

There are a few restaurants growing produce in roof gardens, but yes, generally speaking, it is only viable if you have lots of space.

Nice MenuPad report. It is so true how iPo/ads/hones are the adult version of the Rubik's Cube or Cabbage Patch Kid...or double-screened Donkey Kong gamewatch.

If the MenuPad has the ability to display photographs of menu items and offer information on dish ingredients the onus will be on restaurants to ensure their dishes are presented as immaculately as the MenuPad suggests and their kitchen's inventory is professionally managed.

A major plus for the diner...no time wasted trying to gain the attention of the manically overworked waiter. But will this mean less jobs...

Very cool idea for the diner and classy for the establishment if the kitchen can handle any additional scrutiny.

And then due to maybe lack of availability it can also make the price range of dishes more expensive to the general punter. i wish you luck in your search for more authentic and different food to try. :-)
